A Peek Inside Mt Tam Treehouse Phase II

We're excited to share phase II of our Mt Tam Treehouse project! We originally designed the entry, living, and dining rooms of this Greenbrae family home a few years ago. Coming back to design the family room, office, and powder bathroom was a joy.
Our goal for this phase was to create spaces that are intentionally kid-friendly and functional, while maintaining the cohesive flow we established in phase I. Read on to see how we transformed these hard-working corners of the home.
The Family Room: A Place for Kids to Hang Out

The family room was originally a converted garage that felt a bit disjointed from the rest of the home. In any Marin County remodel, our goal is to make every addition feel like it was always meant to be there. There first step in this space was replacing the flooring, doors, and other details to match the rest of the home.
Our clients envisioned a space where their two girls could host pizza and movie nights - so kid-friendly furnishings + a large sectional were a must.

To ground the room and provide storage, we designed custom built-ins featuring a sleek electric fireplace with a white oak mantel. Since a traditional insert wasn't an option here, this solution provides that cozy feeling (and an oh so important place to hang stockings) without the structural footprint - a total win.
The Home Office: From Closet to Beautiful Nook

While the family room had a large closet being used as an office, there was no escaping the feeling of working in a closet with the clothing rod and closet header still installed. The space was opened up to the main room to feel more permanent. We designed a custom blue + white oak built-in desk to transform the space into an inspiring work from home sanctuary that will easily transition into a homework station as the girls get older.

The Powder Bathroom: Small Space, Big Impact

Located just off the home office, the powder bath was ready for a refresh. Because this room lacks natural light and has a small footprint, we went all in on this space. A pretty wallpaper with movement paired with millwork make the room feel special. The mixed metal finishes add a polished, elevated touch.

Working with repeat clients is the highest compliment. It was such a joy to return to this home and finish the common living spaces for this wonderful family.
