Room Reveal: Spring Lane Dining Room

We're so excited to reveal the first space in our Spring Lane project: the formal dining room! Our clients have three young children and wanted a beautiful space to host dinner parties that's also practical for kids. The room is in the middle of their home and lacks windows, so making it feel bright and airy was also a priority. Overall the home was more industrial style than their preference, and they looked to California Daydreams Design to create a brighter, warmer and California casual space.

To make the space feel brighter and warmer, we painted the statement millwork wall a creamy white (it was dark gray!) and swapped the scones for pretty brass double sconces with fabric shades. These two changes made a huge difference and created cohesion with the rest of the home.

We selected a beautiful white oak table that extends to an even larger size to give them ample space to host large dinner parties. The woven dining chairs add texture and interest to the space without having to worry about kids staining upholstery. Finally, we added a durable rug made from recycled materials that's easy to clean.

The end result is a casual, airy dining room that's both beautiful and kid friendly. Next week we'll share sources and details to help you create a similar California casual dining room in your home.
